Last summer, on 10 May, I was in London as a speaker at: On the Road to COP28: Women-Led Innovation in Climate, Sustainability & STEM. A joint initiative by the Arab International Women’s Forum (AIWF) and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company)’s WiSER.
Crystallising the salient and impactful discussions of the joint high-level conference AIWF and hosted in London on 10 May at the Royal Academy of Engineering, the report synthesises the day’s excellent discussions and distils them into nearly 40 actionable recommendations for advancing leadership, opportunities and diversity for women in agriculture and sustainable food systems; AI and tech; clean energy innovation; the future of work; and climate action and finance.

🍉 The population of Arab states is expected to reach 480 million by the year 2025 and food production will have to increase by 70% in order to sustain the growing population.
🍉 The looming scarcity of water in the Middle East is a huge challenge that requires an urgent response, as access to water is a fundamental need directly linked with food security, human health and agriculture.
🍉 Championing gender equality and youth empowerment is therefore crucial for realizing a food secure water resilient future in the MENA region, and for propelling women into leadership roles in the agricultural sector.
